Direct vs. Indirect Object Pronouns — A2 Practice Quiz
Practice combining Spanish direct and indirect object pronouns with this A2 quiz.
Combining object pronouns is where Spanish starts to sound natural. Instead of repeating the full noun — Doy el libro a Juan — you replace both objects with pronouns and say Se lo doy: “I give it to him.”
This A2 quiz covers the four skills you need to combine pronouns correctly:
- The golden se rule — why le lo is always wrong, and se lo is always right
- Word order — the R.I.D. rule (Reflexive → Indirect → Direct) and why the indirect pronoun always comes first
- Placement with different verbs — before conjugated verbs, attached to infinitives and gerunds, and the special rules for commands
- Accents on attached forms — why dar + te + lo becomes dártelo, not dartelo
How it works: Four sets of 12 questions each. Start with any set — pick the one that matches what you need to practice. Options shuffle every session, so you can retake the quiz without memorizing answers. You need 85% correct to mark a set as complete, and your progress is saved automatically. Come back anytime and pick up where you left off.
Every question includes a full explanation, so you learn from mistakes as you go.
Before you start: This quiz assumes you’ve already practiced direct object pronouns and indirect object pronouns separately. If either feels shaky, review those quizzes first — the combination rules build on them. You can also read the Direct vs. Indirect Object Pronouns guide → for the full explanation of the se rule and word order.
